---System Statistics---

DISTANCE FROM CORE – 42,1246 LY
PRIMARY STAR – Phises, Light Yellow Star
NUMBER OF PLANETS – 8
ASTEROID BELTS – 3, One after the third planet, one orbiting the fifth planet, one after the Seventh planet.

Phises at a Glance:
Phises – type Light Yellow, surface temp 6000ºK
Phises I – Closest planet to Phises (0.5 AU).
Phises II – The extreme heat on this planet has produced a uniquely resistant metal called Tefadon. Extreamly usefull in ship design and, due to it’s closeness to the sun, very hard to harvest. (1.2 AU) Phises III –  It is believed that Phises IV was a rogue asteroid at one point before it was captured in the orbit of Phises. It’s exposure to the nearby star has melted its once rugged features. (2.3 AU)
Phises IV – This planet is just a few hundred degrees short of being able to naturally support life. (3.1 AU)
Phises V – Cold but easily habitable by human life.  A colony ship landed here. The colonists have since developed the system and planet’s rich resources quite well. It is orbited by a miniature asteroid ring. (6.6 AU)
Phises VI – A small planetoid too cold to support life without some sort of support. (8.3 AU)
Phises VII – A Smaller Gas Giant (10 AU)
Astroid Belt – This asteroid belt is rich in resources. This includes, but is not limited to, a substantial amount of Ice. (approx 25 AU)
Phises VIII – A large gas giant with a variety of gasses in its upper atmosphere. (40 AU)

Nearby Interstellar Features:
The Vinadon Expanse – A region with few stars and even less resources. Ships rarely fly through this area leaving Phises one of the more isolated planets.
The Guardpost – A constellation that marks that one is nearing the end of civilized space.
Local Stars:
There are no real stars of note nearby the Phises system.

PHISES V: A Starless Night – Planetary Concept for Project Phaera
Log:
When one enters the Vinadon Expanse, they see nothing but blackness before them. Oh, if we were to rotate our ship long enough we might see the rare star peaking through, but we have little time to waste on sight seeing, even with what few sights to see.  Our target is ahead.

The bells were ringing!

All over the township of Saimont people were flinging open their doors and running towards the center of town.  A small and isolated planet, Phises Five had the fortune to be able to avoid the mass urbanization trend sweeping up the systems from which its colonists had originated from.  They had their urban centers and industry, but they had also kept a number of rural areas just that, rural. Saimont was one of them.

Its simplicity however, was only on the surface. Advanced technology made everyone’s lives, from the farmer to the shop owner, easier. The bells were a charmingly antiquated method to tell of a far more advanced event. Nearby sensors had detected an incoming ship. The Mayor of Saimont had called up the President of Phises Five, who had only just arrived, and the two had headed out to one of the outlying fields where the ship was projected to land.

Communications had been opened only moments before the mysterious vessel had reached orbit and they claimed to come in peace.  Of coarse it was best to take precautions, the townspeople knew that somewhere, in the farther points of the field, members of the polite, yet effective, Planetary Guard were carefully hunkered down, keeping them all safe.

A ship landing on Phises Five was a rare event, isolated from the galaxy-at-large by the Expanse; they got few visitors, which was why this was such an event. It was a chance to have a picnic on the grass and watch as something extraordinary occurs. The people of Saimont all gathered around in a big circle, sure to leave plenty of room for the Mayer and President, not to mention the space ship!

The President walked through the crowd first; he wore a slick business suit, with the inner shirt’s neck done all the way to the top, in tune with the latest fashion craze. The Mayor followed close behind, wearing the snappy suit that had been woven for him for just such occasions, a hand in one pocket and a large brimmed hat on his head to keep out the sun, at it’s brightest this time of day.  They stood, the President slightly forward of the Mayor, waiting for the ship to arrive. The President shielded his eyes from the sun while the Mayor whistled to himself and checked his wristwatch.  Then a sound. From the heavens there was a mighty vibration, as if it was a stampede, and then the ship broke cloud cover.

Oh what a ship it was too. As soon as they first caught site of it the townspeople began to exclaim their adoration of its sleek lines, its engine, the graceful fins that came off the hull, the lovely shade of dark red that it was painted in, and the decorative black Rose painted on the bottom of the hull. It landed in a rush of air and the hatch opened. The Mayor and the President stepped through, the President right away, the Mayor, hesitantly.

The negotiations went on a long time. The townspeople had their picnic lunch, and then sent their sons and daughters home to bring back picnic dinners. Soon the sun began to go down and it began to get cold, as evenings on Phises are prone to do. The townspeople, expecting the cold, pulled out blankets for warmth, those who had forgotten there’s, shared with those who had not.  They all lay back and watched the few stars pop up in the sky and twinkle, as evening went on its way to becoming night.

As the sun finally began to set the President walked out of the door with, the Mayor, and one of the men from the ship, following. But something was wrong. All the townspeople quietly moved in to see what was going on.  Everyone leaned in close.

The President was talking to the man, who was dressed in a long robe with a collapsed hood. The Mayor kept trying to interrupt but the President kept waving him down, leaving the Mayor to do nothing but pull at his collar and scuff his boots nervously.  One of the townspeople got close enough to hear what the three were saying and words spread through the circle of townspeople like a brushfire.

“…yes, I’ve talked with my fellow officials and we’ve all agreed that your proposal will be fantastic for Phises. Back in the cities our people have been short on jobs and resources and what you want will be the perfect solution. “

“You understand,” the odd robed man replied, so quietly he could barely be heard, “that the need for secrecy is paramount. We want no interference. “

“Well you are at the right place Brother Varisus, Phises is the place to be if you want to keep prying eyes away.  I’m glad you decided to land here, this area is perfect for one of your new factories, even a refinery would go well here, considering it’s location relative to the asteroid ring. We have plenty of empty space like this that could easily be turned into factories and plants. It would be a boon for both you and my entire planet.”

“Good. The Order of the Black Rose thanks you. You will be rewarded Mr. President.”

The President smiled widely and shook hands with Brother Varisus, who then turned and went back to his ship. The Mayor finely had the chance to speak, “Mr. President, Sir, umm, what about our fields? What about our town?”

“This type of place won’t be needed much longer.” The President waved his hand dismissively. “Changes are coming Mayor, you and your town should be proud to be the beginning.” At this the man walked away.

Air rushed past the two men and the townspeople then, forcing the mayor to turn his head down and hold his hat, as the ship began to take off. As it got farther and farther up into the now clear sky, the dark red turned to black and blotted out the few stars.
